WHITE ROCK (NEWS 1130) — He’s calling it his “civic duty,” a White Rock man is one of the first in all of Canada to be selected for a COVID-19 antibody test.
Evan Monk was surprised to get the test in the mail last week, as participants were chosen at random.
“I was a little bit taken aback by it. I didn’t really understand why it has come to my door. And then, one of the things it says in here is that it’s just sent to a random household. And it’s meant to be given to the oldest person in the household.”

He says he believes it’s the least he could do to get the test done – since the test is supposed to gather data on how many Canadians have the antibodies – even if they’ve never had any symptoms of the virus.
“I feel like it’s very valuable information to be able to get because I do get the results back, so I was kind of happy to get it. I’m excited to find out what the results may be.”
Participants are required to fill in an online questionnaire and do an at-home blood test which is then mailed to a lab.
