Missing mother, two-week-old infant may be in Winnipeg: police

Mounties are looking for a 19-year-old woman and her two-week-old baby who went missing from West St. Paul.

Selkirk RCMP say Azja Berens and her infant were last seen leaving a home in a vehicle on Tuesday around 9 a.m. Police did not provide a description of the vehicle.

Police, who say they were notified on Thursday, believe the mother and baby may be in Winnipeg, possibly with someone Berens knows.

Mounties say they are concerned for the wellbeing of the baby.

“We are asking Azja to immediately call 911 so that officers can ensure that her newborn baby is safe,” said Cpl. Mélanie Roussel of the Manitoba RCMP. “We are also asking friends and loved ones of Azja to contact police if they know where she may be staying.”

Berens is five-foot-six, weighing 150 lbs., with shoulder-length wavy black hair and brown eyes.

She was last seen wearing a black oversized hoodie, grey baggie sweatpants with white and black running shoes.
