Winnipeg police say charges against a 42-year-old man have been upgraded to manslaughter after the victim of an aggravated assault died of his injuries in hospital.
The Winnipeg Police Service says 31-year-old Jereth Joseph James Clarke of Norway House Cree Nation was critically injured in a fight on Stanley Street on the morning of Oct. 17.
Authorities say he sustained injuries consistent with being stabbed.
Police say Clarke spent three days in hospital, where he died on Oct. 20.
Christopher Fosseneuve, 42, was initially charged with aggravated assault. That charge was upgraded to manslaughter following Clarke’s death. The allegation against him has not been tested in court.
