2 Ontario men charged after $50k was found in semi-truck west of Winnipeg

Manitoba RCMP say two men from Ontario have been charged after $50,000 was allegedly found inside a semi-truck.

Mounties say around 2:10 p.m. on Sept. 29, a semi-truck was pulled over on the Trans-Canada Highway near Elie — roughly 30 km west of Winnipeg.

While speaking to the semi’s two occupants, officers reportedly noticed a package of unmarked cigarettes on the dashboard, while lead to a search of the vehicle, where officers then allegedly found a package within groceries that contained around $50,000 in cash.

Following this, the two men — a 38-year-old from Hannon, Ont. and a 53-year-old man from Mississauga, Ont. — were taken into custody and charged with possession of property obtained by a crime over $5,000.
