Major drinking water project in RM of Macdonald

A major drinking water project is now complete in the RM of Macdonald, with more underway to support future growth.
A new water reservoir and pumping station located along Highway 3 will provide reliable water service for existing and future homes and businesses.
The $6 million project – of which $2.3 million came from the province and $1.6 million from Ottawa – includes a 1.2 million litre treated water reservoir and a standby generator.
Work is also underway to expand the Sanford Water Treatment Plant, a $32 million project expected to be finished by July 2027.
The expansion will double the plant’s treatment capacity from 60 to 120 litres per second, serving Sanford and several surrounding communities.
It also includes a new 2.5 million litre reservoir, upgraded filtration equipment and improvements to the La Salle River water intake.
The projects are aimed at keeping up with residential and commercial growth across the municipality, meaning residents don’t need to worry about having enough water infrastructure as their community expands.
