1 dead, 3 injured in highway rollover near Gimli

One person is dead and three others were injured following a single-vehicle rollover north of Gimli on Tuesday morning, RCMP say.

Gimli RCMP responded to the crash on Highway 17 in the Rural Municipality of Armstrong, about five kilometres north of Narcisse, at approximately 6:11 a.m.

Police say the vehicle was travelling north on Highway 17 when it veered into the west ditch before crossing the highway into the east ditch, where it struck an approach and rolled over.

A 36-year-old woman from Peguis First Nation was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 23-year-old man from Peguis First Nation, and two passengers, a 33-year-old woman from Winnipeg and a 17-year-old boy from Hodgson, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.

Gimli is about 90 kilometres north of Winnipeg.
