Canadian Red Cross in Manitoba to support people affected by Swan River flood

Answering a call from the province, the Canadian Red Cross is on the ground providing in-person support to people affected by flooding in the Swan River and the Municipality of Swan Valley West, including Benito.

The area experienced massive flooding earlier this month, and the Red Cross says they are helping to provide clarity and direction with disaster funding and insurance applications.

Manitoba Red Cross Vice President, Luc Millinder says Canadians can help do their part by visiting the Red Cross website.

“Helping folks fill that information void and information gap, and connecting them with the resources that they think they need, and eventually helping them build their recovery plan overall,” said Millinder.

“I’ll tell you the truth man, Manitoba is amazing to be in, ive talked to a couple people today, and even though their homes were flooded, and their basements were flooded and their crawl spaces were flooded, it was incredible to hear them just want to make sure that their neighbours were okay, and their friends and families were okay that were impacted too, so just seeing Manitobans want to be their for each other is really heartwarming.”
