Ryan Sneath named Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Chief

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) has a new chief, as Ryan Sneath was appointed by the City on Tuesday.

Sneath has served as Deputy Chief of Paramedic Operations and Training since 2021, which is part of what helped him in a competitive selection process.

In his previous role, Sneath was part of a leadership team that integrated fire, paramedic, and emergency management services, and he was the Department Culture Lead.

Before that, Sneath served as Assistant Chief of Paramedic Operations, leading day-to-day emergency medical services operations.

“Ryan Sneath brings steady leadership, proven experience, and a strong understanding of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service,” said Mayor Scott Gillingham in a statement. “At a demanding time for emergency services, I know he will keep supporting frontline staff, strengthening workplace culture, and making sure Winnipeggers continue to receive excellent care when they need it most.”

Sneath’s appointment takes effect July 6, 2026.
