The fire at a North End apartment building that claimed the life of a 53-year-old man earlier this month has been deemed accidental.
Winnipeg police are saying investigators determined the June 5 fire at the two-storey building on Ross Avenue was not criminal in nature.

The man was found dead inside the suite where the fire started.
A woman who lives next door to that unit told CityNews she heard loud explosions. She says she then banged on the neighbour’s wall, calling his name, but she heard nothing.
No other injuries were reported.
Winnipeg police and the WFPS both launched investigations.
