6 people facing charges for allegedly trafficking drugs in Winnipeg’s William Whyte neighbourhood

Winnipeg police say six people were taken into custody in connection with a drug trafficking investigation in the William Whyte neighbourhood.
WPS says they began an investigation in June after it was believed that drugs were being trafficked.
Investigators were able to identify two men and a home that were believed to be connected, and around 6 p.m. on June 17, officers executed two warrants at a home along Burrows Avenue.
While at the home, police were able to take six people into custody, and were able to find and seize the following:
- Sawed-off .22 calibre bolt-action rifle
- Sawed-off .22 calibre bolt-action rifle with serial number obliterated
- Loaded sawed-off Springfield model 67F 12-gauge pump-action shotgun
- Loaded sawed-off Remington model 700-270 Winchester bolt action rifle, which was confirmed to have been stolen
- 9mm magazine x4 (with mag pouch)
- Assorted ammunition
- Brass knuckles
- Scales
- Drug packaging and paraphernalia
- Contaminated mirror (with lines of white powder)
- Totem e-bike
- $735 in cash
Police have charged 41-year-old Edward Arthur Coutu with 13 drug and firearm-related offences, 40-year-old Tamara Faye Matwayashing with 15 offences, and 38-year-old Joshua Zedidiah Parisian with 12 offences.
Additionally, a 41-year-old man, a 69-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman are also facing multiple firearm and drug-related offences and were released on an Undertaking.
