Manitoba government addressing RCMP vacancy rates

RCMP vacancy rates in Manitoba have declined by more than 50 per cent, according to Justice Minister Matt Wiebe.

The province’s 2026 budget includes an additional $8 million in funding for the Provincial Police Service Agreement, which covers the majority of RCMP positions in Manitoba, including front-line officers and integrated enforcement units focused on serious and organized crime.

According to the province, vacancy rates for RCMP positions funded through the agreement have dropped to less than 10 per cent in 2026, down from nearly 22 per cent in 2023.
