Province announces construction on new school in Winnipeg’s Prairie Pointe neighbourhood

Construction is now underway for a new kindergarten to Grade 8 school in Winnipeg’s Prairie Pointe neighbourhood.
The province made the announcement at a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, noting that the school would have both French and English learning.
“Breaking ground on this new school means Prairie Pointe families will have access to quality learning spaces close to home,” said Education and Early Childhood Learning Minister Tracy Schmidt. “As this community continues to grow, it’s important we are building the infrastructure needed to support students and families now and into the future.”
The school will be located along Skyline Drive and will have a capacity of 800 students, with 134 child-care spaces for infants, preschool and school-aged children also available at the school.
Once completed, the school will have classroom spaces, a gymnasium, a multipurpose room, specialized learning areas to support hands-on programming, resource, guidance and student support spaces, human ecology, life skills and a hygiene room, library learning commons, a kitchenette, applied technology spaces and associated administrative, ancillary and building support areas.
It is expected to open in the fall of 2027.
