Winnipeg police confirm identity of man who died from fight in West End in May

Winnipeg police say a 48-year-old man who died following a fight in the West End on May 24 has been identified.

WPS says the deceased is Darrell Kablalik of Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, noting that he had been living in Winnipeg.

Officers responded to a home along Sargent Avenue just before 11 a.m. on May 24 and found Kablalik suffering from serious, life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital in critical condition, where he died.

Police were able to take 40-year-old Oluwatosin Akisanya into custody, and he has been charged with second degree murder.
