Man charged after alleged assault at rooming house: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police say a 29-year-old man has been charged in connection with an alleged assault on Saturday.

WPS says officers responded to a report of a medical call at a rooming house along Maryland Street near Ellice Avenue around 9:30 p.m. on May 30.

When officers arrived at the scene, WFPS was already treating a man who was seriously injured.

The 25-year-old was taken to hospital in unstable condition, but has since been upgraded to stable.

Through initial stages of an investigation, police believe that a 25-year-old man was allegedly assaulted earlier in the evening, after being in an argument with another man.

While searching the rooming house, police found a man who was believed to be involved and took him into custody, and he has since been charged with assault causing bodily harm and possession of a weapon.
