Alberta man charged after cocaine allegedly found in vehicle during traffic stop in Manitoba

Manitoba RCMP say a 31-year-old man from Alberta has been charged after allegedly being found to be in possession of cocaine.

Mounties reportedly conducted a traffic stop around 4:30 p.m. on May 1, on a vehicle driving along Red Coat Trail (Manitoba Highway 2) in the RM of Sifton — around 280 km west of Winnipeg.

During the stop, officers conducted a compliance check on the driver and then took him into custody. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, RCMP allegedly found 4.5 kilograms of vacuum-packaged cocaine that had been hidden throughout the vehicle. It is believed that the estimated value of the cocaine is around $350,000.

As a result, 31-year-old Joseph McPherson, of Hanna, Alberta — around 200 km northeast of Calgary — has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
