Manitoba parents facing aggravated assault charges after newborn injured

A Manitoba mother and father, both aged 32, are facing aggravated assault charges after their newborn infant was brought in with injuries last fall.

Manitoba RCMP say the mother brought her boy, who was less than a month old, to the Child Protection Centre on Sept. 9, 2025. The infant had multiple fractures, lacerations and bruising.

The baby was placed in care following an examination.

Police say the Manitoba RCMP integrated child abuse unit began investigating, including searching the family home in southeastern Manitoba.

A charge of aggravated assault has since been authorized against the parents.
