Manitoba restorting menopause clinic in Winnipeg

Manitoba will be opening a standalone menopause clinic in south Winnipeg through a $5.2 million investment.

The province says the investment will be to establish the Manitoba Menopause Clinic, after the service was lost in 2017.

“We’re bringing this care back because Manitobans told us it matters,” said Kinew. “For years, women were left without the specialized support they relied on. Today, that changes. We’re restoring this clinic and building on it so more people can get the care they need, closer to home.”

The clinic will reportedly provide menopause and gynecological care, including minimally invasive procedures, along with counselling, education, and coordinated interdisciplinary support in one location.

Additionally, obstetricians and gynecologists will deliver care, supported by a team that includes nurses, dietitians, physiotherapists, and pharmacists.

“The previous government shut down the Mature Women’s Centre in 2017, and women across Manitoba felt that loss,” said Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care Minister Uzoma Asagwara.

“Women were told to wait, travel, or simply cope without specialized support. That decision sent a message about whose health was being prioritized. By restoring specialized menopause care and offering free hormone replacement therapy, our government is making it clear that women’s health matters and that Manitobans deserve better,” said Asagwara.

The Manitoba Menopause Clinic will reopen as a standalone, community-based outpatient centre at 1333 Kenaston Boulevard.
