Premier Kinew met with Prime Minister Mark Carney in Ottawa Tuesday

Premier Kinew was in Ottawa Tuesday afternoon to meet with Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Kinew congratulated Carney on his byelection win, while Carney took the time to praise the work that Kinew is doing to build infrastructure in full partnership with indigenous peoples, including the port of Churchill, which Carney added is a priority for both governments.
Kinew and Carney also spoke about the Peguis First Nation as they prepare for flooding. Kinew thanks Carney for his cooperation with flooding preparations, adding that it’s great to know that the federal government has our back.
Kinew also praised Carney for cutting the fuel tax, while reminding Carney that he did it first.
“We did that pretty much the first thing we did coming into office. It lowered inflation in Manitoba, and so now you have your majority; this is your first action. And you’re gonna cut inflation across the country, too, so I just wanted to say thanks on behalf of the people who’ll be saving 20 bucks,” Kinew said.
Kinew also met with a number of ministers before attending a ceremony at the holocaust memorial and speaking at a reception hosted by a Manitoba business delegation.
