Ice jams push Red River levels higher in Winnipeg

Red River levels are rising, with the City of Winnipeg pointing to ice jams in the south and west end of the city as the cause of the rise in water levels.

Despite the increase, the city says conditions remain within the minor flood range, which means homes are not currently at risk.

Crews have already been preparing for weeks, activating pump stations, deploying temporary pumps, sealing manholes, and closing river gates.

Officials say they will continue to monitor weather and ice conditions closely.
