Man wanted in connection to 2024 homicide in Winnipeg arrested in B.C.

The final suspect wanted in the homicide of a 22-year-old Ontario man in September 2024 has been charged.

Winnipeg police say 25-year-old Chad Jason Dandan was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant in connection to the death of Zeyad Shammo.

In October, Dandan was listed as one of Canada’s top-25 most wanted criminals.

On March 26, Dandan was taken into custody by police in Surrey, British Columbia.

Dandan has since been charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, and extortion.

He has since been flown back to Winnipeg, where he remains in custody.

Back in 2024, WPS responded to a report of a missing man around 7:45 p.m. on Sept. 10, on Bridge Lake Drive near Red Spruce Road.

It is believed the man had been abducted the previous day.

WPS says in the early morning hours of Sept. 13, investigators found the man dead near Bristol Avenue and Rue St. Luc.

The man was later identified as Shammo, and police confirmed he was from Ontario.
