Jets fans speculate ahead of NHL trade deadline

With the NHL trade deadline less than 24-hours away, Winnipeg Jets Captain Adam Lowry speaks, as fans speculate over what’s next.

The NHL trade deadline is less than 24-hours away, and the Winnipeg Jets sit nine points out of the second and final wild card spot.

Just a year after winning the Presidents’ Trophy, the lowly Jets are likely selling at this year’s deadline.

“It is a challenging time, obviously. From a fan’s aspect, it’s super exciting. You’re hoping your team adds. You’re kind of seeing all the player movement from around the league. I think from a personal side, it’s tough. You have guys uprooting their families. There’s a lot of things that go on behind the scenes. It’s not just the player getting traded, it’s usually the family, or the family stays behind,” said Jets’ captain Adam Lowry.

The Jets have multiple players on expiring contracts, but one name that’s been at the centre of trade speculation is fan favourite Logan Stanley, and fans are unsure what the team should do with six foot seven defenceman who’s having a career year.

“I’m mixed on that one. He’s been great. And then other times, I don’t know. I kind of wonder. But he’s too big. I don’t want to upset him. So if you’re listening Logan,” said Shawn Osiowy, a Jets fan.

While the Jets could ship some players out, one fan seems to think the answer to the team’s woes is right in front of them, depending on how desperate they really are.

“Hey, I know how to skate. The Jets should grab me,” said Dylan Resch, a Jets fan.

We’ll just have to wait and see what general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff has up his sleeve at the 2 p.m. deadline on Friday.
