Winnipeg police officers assaulted breaking up bar fight, suspects arrested

Winnipeg police (WPS) said officers were allegedly assaulted on while breaking up a fight at a bar Wednesday night.

Police said they received a 911 call about a fight involving about 15 people at a bar in the 1100 block of Main Street.

When officers arrived on the scene at around 11 p.m. they found two men actively fighting.

One of the men was detained under the intoxicated persons detention act, and the other released without charges.

A 27-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man were arrested for obstructing officers while they attempted to break up the fight.

The woman kicked one officer and spat on another, while the man attempted to prevent officers from detaining one of the men involved in the fight.

The woman is facing charges of assaulting and resisting peace officer. She was released on an appearance notice.

The man was charged with obstructing justice. He was released on an undertaking.
