Winnipeg security guard in hospital after being hit by weapon during alleged robbery

A Winnipeg security guard is in hospital after being hit by a weapon during an alleged robbery Friday afternoon.

WPS says they received a report around 1:45 p.m. on Feb. 13, of an alleged robbery outside a building on Main Street.

Officers attended the scene and learned that “a man was outside the building when he noticed someone rummaging through his property that was sitting on the ground nearby. When he approached the suspect, he was struck on the head with a metal object, and the suspect(s) ran off with his property.”

Police note a bystander who was driving by stopped and helped the man, and called police.

The man was taken to hospital in stable condition.

An investigation is ongoing and police are asking if anyone has any information, they are asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
