Police say a man arrested last week in connection with the kidnapping of a 20-year-old woman on a northern Manitoba First Nation has officially been charged.
Manitoba RCMP say 39-year-old Albert McKay, also known as Joshua Paupanekis, was charged with kidnapping, assault with a weapon and failure to comply with release orders.

McKay was wanted after Raeanne Thomas was allegedly abducted from a home in Pimicikamak Cree Nation on Feb. 5. Police were told a suspect entered a home, allegedly hit a 24-year-old resident with a hammer and abducted Thomas.
RCMP issued a dangerous person alert for Pimicikamak and its surrounding area later that day.
McKay was arrested Friday morning at a vacant property in Pimicikamak. Police say Thomas was also found inside the home with minor injuries.
McKay was scheduled to appear in court in Thompson on Monday. The allegations against him have not been tested in court.
Mounties are continuing to investigate.
