Three people were in critical condition and four others injured after a fire broke out at a house Saturday morning.
Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WPFS) said firefighters were alerted to the fire at 9:48 a.m. in a house in the 300 block of Agnes Street.
When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames from the house. They brought the fire under control at 2:32 p.m.
“Paramedics assessed seven patients. Of those seven patients, paramedics transported three patients to hospital in critical condition, two patients in stable condition, and two patients did not require transport to hospital,” WPFS said.
Winnipeg Transit provided a bus to temporary shelter displaced residents near the scene. The City’s Emergency Social Services also responded to provide support to residents.
The house was significantly damaged from fire, smoke and water, WPFS said.
Two neighbouring houses were evacuated as a precaution.
The fire is under investigation.
