72 arrested, $24,000 worth of goods recovered through SafeShop project: WPS

Winnipeg police (WPS) say they arrested 72 suspects last month, thanks to the SafeShop project.
Among them are seven from the Crime Stoppers’ retail theft top 10 most-wanted list.
WPS said officers increased patrols in major retail areas across the city to deter theft and improve safety during the holiday shopping season.
Police also laid nearly 200 criminal charges and recovered almost $24,000 worth of stolen property.
Officers say the SafeShop initiative helped protect shoppers, staff and businesses alike.
