Winnipeg police say their investigation into a school-aged child approached by two masked men in a white van has determined there was no threat to the child or to public safety.
The Winnipeg Police Service did not provide more information about why they determined there was no threat.
“All investigations undertaken by the Winnipeg Police Service are taken seriously and are investigated to their full extent,” police said in a brief news release.
Authorities previously said the school-aged child was walking to school on Beverley Street on Tuesday around 1 p.m. when masked men dressed dressed in black exited a white van and offered the child candy and a ride.
Police said the child refused and ran to the school to report what happened to a staff member.
