Winnipeg’s winter route parking ban to begin Dec. 3

It’s that time of year again. Winnipeg’s annual winter route parking ban will start next week.

Starting a 2 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, Winnipeg’s winter route parking ban will be in effect.

Once in place, parking will be prohibited between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. on all designated winter route streets.

The City of Winnipeg is reminding drivers that this parking ban is not weather-dependent and will be in place until otherwise stated, which will likely be in spring 2026.

Winter routes are major thoroughfares and are often used by emergency vehicles, making them a priority for snow-clearing and ice control operations.

Vehicles that park along the winter routes may receive a $100 ticket and may be towed.

Some signs might be labeled as snow route, which are included in the winter route ban.

Winnipeggers can also find out if a parking ban applies to any address they are looking to park at by downloading the Know Your Zone app, searching the City of Winnipeg’s interactive snow map, using the online address lookup tool, or by calling 311.
