Man charged in connection to 5 robberies: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police say a 29-year-old man has been charged in connection with several thefts between mid-October and mid-November.

WPS says they took 29-year-old Dut Allen Aken into custody Friday morning near downtown in connection with five theft incidents. Those incidents are as follows:

  • October 13: A man stole $500 worth of electronics from a grocery store in the 800 block of St. James Street
  • October 18: A man stole an electronic device valued at $150 from a grocery store in the 800 block of St. James Street
  • November 2: A man stole another $700 worth of electronics from a grocery store in the 800 block of St. James Street
  • November 11: A man stole $500 worth of toys from a retail store in the 1400 block of Portage Avenue, a store he was court-ordered not to attend
  • November 11: A man sold stolen merchandise to a specialty store in the 500 block of Sargent Avenue and received money in exchange

Aken has since been charged with four counts of theft under $5,000, trafficking property obtained by a crime under $5,000, and failing to comply with a probation order.
