Winnipeg police have charged a 17-year-old girl in connection with the alleged stabbing of a man after buying a phone from him on Wednesday evening.
The Winnipeg Police Service says the victim, a 47-year-old man, had arranged to sell his cell phone to the teenager using a social media platform.
Authorities say the girl arrived at the meetup at McGregor Street and Carruthers Avenue accompanied by an adult.
“As the sale had concluded, the buyer returned and stabbed the seller. The suspect fled the scene and police were contacted,” police said in a news release.
Officers located the suspect with the help of police dogs, according to the WPS.
The victim was taken to hospital in stable condition.
The 17-year-old was charged with assault with a weapon, failure to comply with a sentence and eight counts of failing to comply with the conditions of a release order. She was detained in custody.
