Suite damaged after fire in 5-storey apartment building in Winnipeg

One suite has been damaged in a five-storey apartment building following a fire on Monday evening.

WFPS responded to reports of the fire along Clarke Street, around 10:34 p.m.

When crews arrived, they found smoke coming from the building and found the fire located in one of the suites. The fire was declared under control at 11:01 p.m.

Some residents were able to evacuate prior to firefighters arriving at the scene, but some people did need help evacuating. Despite this, WFPS says no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and there are no damage estimates at this time. WFPS notes that damages were primarily contained to the suite in which the fire originated.
