2 facing charges after police seize over $350K in drugs, illegal cigarettes

Winnipeg police say two people are facing charges after a pair of search warrants uncovered a large quantity of drugs.

WPS says on Sunday, officers conducted a traffic stop along Jefferson Avenue and took a driver and passenger into custody in connection to a drug investigation.

At the time, the driver was found to be in possession of cocaine and cash, police allege, and the woman was later released without charges.

Following this, a search warrant was executed at a nearby home, and police say they seized:

  • Around 685 grams of methamphetamine
  • Around 480 grams of cocaine
  • Around 271,000 illegal cigarettes
  • Around $15,000 in Canadian cash
  • Drug packaging materials
  • A money counter
  • A safe

A second search warrant was executed at a home along Teakwood Avenue, where police took a different woman into custody, seized:

  • Around 855 grams of methamphetamine
  • Around 400 illegal cigarettes
  • Around $4,210 of Canadian cash
  • Drug trafficking materials

Police say between the two searches, the estimated worth of the drugs that were seized was over $117,000, while the estimated value in illegal cigarettes was around $270,000.

Police say a 37-year-old man is facing nine drug-related charges, while a 45-year-old woman is facing two drug-related charges. Both have been released on an undertaking.
