2 people shot in armed robbery at home in Mandalay West: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police say they are looking for the individuals responsible for an armed robbery in which two people were shot.

WPS says on Oct. 9, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at a home on Bachman Bay around 6:30 p.m.

Reports also indicated that two people inside the home had been shot during the incident.

When officers arrived at the home, they found two men — aged 33 and 56 — suffering from lower-body gunshot wounds. Both were taken to hospital, one in unstable condition, while the other was stable.

Through an investigation police learned that suspects were using a black 2020 or 2021 Volkswagen Jetta sedan and had circled the neighbourhood several times before stopping in front of the home.

Following this, four out of five of the occupants exited the Jetta and were armed and masked and entered the home. Police note that the home did have a jewellery business running inside it.

“The armed masked suspects, entered the business, shot two of the occupants, and stole an undisclosed amount of jewellery before fleeing in the awaiting Jetta,” said Winnipeg police in a statement.

It is believed that the Jetta arrived from eastbound Jefferson Avenue prior to circling the block, and proceeded to flee west on Jefferson Avenue after the robbery.

Police are asking if anyone has any information, including dash camera footage, to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
