Construction starts on new child-care facility at Riverview Health Centre

Construction has begun on a new 10 dollar-a-day child-care centre, due to capital investment of 5.6 million dollars from the province.
The new facility is located at the Riverview Health Centre and will offer 16 infant and 64 preschool spaces.
According to Minister of Education and Early Childhood Tracy Schmidt, the new centre will be aimed in part to make life easier for healthcare workers at Riverview.
“By investing in new child-care spaces like those at Riverview Health Centre, we’re making it easier for parents – especially the nurses, physicians, aides and allied health professionals working in health care – to access high-quality, inclusive care close to where they work,” said Schmidt.
The centre is planned to open in fall 2026.
