Markus Chambers resigns as chair of Winnipeg Police Board

The chair of the Winnipeg Police Board (WPB) resigned his position last week.

Markus Chambers stepped down as board chair and board member on Oct. 1 “effective immediately,” the WPB said in a brief statement Monday.

Vice-Chair Colleen Mayer will fulfill the duties of board chair until city council appoints a new chair.

Chambers was first appointed to the board in 2018, serving as member, vice-chair and chair.

“The Winnipeg Police Board extends its appreciation to Councillor Chambers for his dedicated service to the Board and the community,” the WPB wrote.
