Manitoba RCMP say a 33-year-old man has been charged after allegedly uttering threats and assaulting police officers.
Mounties say officers were approached by a man outside a business on Highway 12 North around 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 21.
As the man approached the officers, he reportedly became belligerent and started to utter threats and act erratically.
Due to this, he was taken into custody, but he resisted and allegedly assaulted an officer. He was then taken to the Steinbach RCMP detachment, where he reportedly continued to act aggressively, assaulting another officer and uttering additional threats.
Hours later, the man was reportedly calm and was moved to a secure room. When he entered, he reportedly became agitated and caused significant damage to the room, before officers were able to gain control and take him back to a cell.

RCMP say 33-year-old Gilbert Ste-Marie has since been charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, four counts of uttering threats and mischief under $5,000.
