Proactive policing leads to arrest of man carrying machete

Winnipeg police say a man has been charged after being found carrying a machete Thursday morning.
WPS says officers were patrolling near Ellice Avenue and Donald Street around 5:35 a.m. on Sept. 18, when they noticed a man carrying a large machete over his shoulder.
Additional officers responded, and the man was taken into custody near Cumberland Avenue and Hargrave Street. Police note he was uncooperative, but he was taken into custody without incident.
Police were able to find and seize a machete nearby.
WPS says the man is facing charges of possession of a weapon and failing to comply with the conditions of an undertaking.
