Winnipeg police warning of phone scam claiming to use their non-emergency number

Winnipeg police are warning the public of a telephone scam where the scammers are identifying themselves as Winnipeg police.
WPS says they’ve received reports from several provinces, indicating the calls have falsely originated from a WPS non-emergency number of “204-986-6222”.
Police say that law enforcement agencies will never call you and request personal information or funds, and urge the public not to disclose any personal information about bank accounts, identification numbers, credit cards, or personal finances to anyone.
