On June 13, WPS sex crime investigators and patrol officers were joined by animal protection officers and removed two cats and a kitten from the man’s home. The cats were taken to a veterinary clinic where they were assessed before being taken to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

Police say the 19-year-old was taken into custody at his home on Thursday.

He is facing three charges, including bestiality, causing unnecessary suffering to an animal, and inflict upon an animal acute suffering, serious injury or harm, or extreme anxiety, or distress that significantly impairs its health or wellbeing. He has since been released.
