Steinbach teen on dirt bike fatally struck by train

Police say a 15-year-old boy from Steinbach riding a dirt bike is dead after he was struck by a CN train on Sunday afternoon.

Oakbank and Beausejour RCMP say it happened at a railway crossing on Pleasant Road just south of Highway 15, in the RM of Springfield, around 1 p.m.

Investigators believe the teenager was riding south on Pleasant Road when he was hit by the westbound train.

The 15-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

RCMP and CN police are investigating.
