Manitoba RCMP say a 17-year-old girl was killed after being hit by a vehicle in the RM of Cornwallis on Sunday morning.
Mounties from Blue Hills responded to a report that a pedestrian was hit along Road 107 West, just northeast of Brandon.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found paramedics treating a 17-year-old girl from Brandon, who had been reportedly hit by a vehicle. The girl, however, was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Through the initial stages of an investigation, Mounties learned that the girl was walking with a 16-year-old boy along Road 107 West after leaving a party when she was hit. The boy she was walking with was not injured.
The driver, a 17-year-old boy from Virden, was also not injured in the incident and remained at the scene.
Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the collision, and an investigation is ongoing.
