2 facing charges after Winnipeg police find gun, drugs in car

Winnipeg police say two people are facing charges for allegedly trafficking drugs.

WPS says just before midnight on Aug. 30, officers conducting patrols approached a man and a woman who were standing next to a vehicle in a parking lot along McGregor Street.

Police note that no businesses were open at that time, and that the area is known for higher crime rates.

As the officers approached the vehicle, they noticed a gun in plain view inside the vehicle.

Both the man and the woman were taken into custody and the officers searched the vehicle. During the search, they found and seized the following items:

  • Beretta-styled Air Pistol
  • Approximately 20 Grams of Cocaine
  • Approximately 22 Grams of Methamphetamine
  • Gabapentin Prescription Pills x 73
  • Cell Phone
  • Scale
  • $625 CAD

WPS says a 66-year-old man is facing trafficking-related, weapons-related, and proceeds of crime charges.

A 44-year-old woman is facing similar charges, including a charge of failing to comply with her release order, and she is facing a charge of mischief to property after damaging a door during the intake process at the police station.
