2 men charged in death of 26-year-old following altercation: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police say two men have been charged in the homicide investigation of a 26-year-old man.

Breydon Henry Cadieux-Kwiatkowski was found suffering from severe trauma near Boyd Avenue and McGregor Street on Aug. 5 around 7 p.m. He was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he died of his injuries.

Homicide investigators believe an altercation between a suspect and the victim – who police say knew each other beforehand – “escalated to the point where the victim was fatally injured.” They say a second suspect assisted the first suspect in escaping.

Two men were arrested on Tuesday by the Manitoba Integrated Violent Offender Apprehension Unit and the Tactical Support Team.

Darian Allen Gaige Sam, 27, is charged with manslaughter and two counts of failure to comply with a release order. David Allen Kirton, 64, is charged with accessory after the fact to murder. Both were detained in custody.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
