By CityNews Staff

Winnipeg police say a 27-year-old woman is facing charges following a collision in the early hours of Sunday.

WPS responded to a report of a collision along Maryland Street near Portage Avenue around 12:15 a.m. on Aug. 10.

It is believed that a woman driving a 2007 Acura TSX was heading south on Maryland Street when she hit another vehicle that was stopped at a red light.

Police say that no injuries were reported; however, both vehicles suffered substantial damage.

While at the scene, officers took the driver of the Acura into custody as she had signs of intoxication.

Following this, officers searched the woman’s vehicle, and they found an unloaded 12-gauge shotgun. An additional search of the woman also found 20 grams of cocaine.

Police say the woman is facing charges of impaired driving, possession of a firearm, and possession of a scheduled substance.
