Winnipeg police say a man has been charged after allegedly threatening security at the University of Manitoba Saturday morning.
WPS says officers responded to the university around 11:30 a.m. after receiving a report that a man had a weapon and was threatening individuals at the track and field stadium.
Campus security tried to make the man leave the stadium as he was reportedly acting aggressively in the viewing area. He refused to cooperate and allegedly threatened three security officers and a coach.
When officers attended the scene, they found the man hiding in a nearby retention pond, but he refused to leave the pond.
Roughly an hour later, officers were able to take the man into custody and learned that he had no connection to the university.
Since, 45-year-old Arbin Duku Muhaxheri has been charged with four counts of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, and four counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
