2 men charged after reportedly fighting on flight in northern Manitoba, forcing it to divert

Manitoba RCMP say two men are facing charges for allegedly fighting during a flight Monday afternoon.

Around 3:35 p.m., Mounties in Thompson received a report from the Thompson Airport that a flight going to Tadoule Lake was returning as two people were reportedly fighting onboard.

When the plane landed back in Thompson, it was met by officers, who were told the two men were being combative and causing a safety risk to others onboard.

Mounties then boarded the plane and took a 29-year-old from Thompson and a 27-year-old from Tadoule Lake into custody.

While in custody, police allege they seized a small portion of drugs, which is believed to be crack cocaine, from the 29-year-old.

RCMP say the 29-year-old is facing charges of endangering the safety of an aircraft and possession of a controlled substance.

The 27-year-old is facing charges of endangering the safety of an aircraft, assault causing bodily harm, and uttering threats.

Mounties confirm an investigation is ongoing.
