Manitoba RCMP says a 22-year-old is dead after a collision on Highway 12 around midnight on June 30.

Mounties from Steinbach responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 12, just south of Highway 303 in the RM of Hanover — around 75 km southeast of Winnipeg.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a vehicle on its side in the ditch. Another vehicle could be seen blocking both lanes of the highway.

RCMP say the 22-year-old driver of the vehicle that was still on the highway was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other driver, a 20-year-old man was taken to hospital in critical condition, but has since been upgraded to stable.

An investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
