5 facing charges in connection to ‘gun incident’ in William Whyte neighbourhood

Winnipeg police say five people are facing various firearms charges following a “gun incident” Thursday evening.

WPS says around 8:30 a.m. on Jun 12, police received a report that a man was pointing a handgun at passing cars near Burrows Avenue and McKenzie Street.

When officers arrived, they saw the man run inside a home along Alfred Avenue.

After an undisclosed amount of time, police were able to find and take five people into custody within the home.

Following this, police executed a search warrant and were able to find and seize a 12-gauge shotgun, a pellet gun, a large quantity of ammunition, various firearms components, and body armour.

As a result, 39-year-old George Angus Okemow, 26-year-old Brendan Elice Okemow, and 38-year-old Michelle Maybelyne Okemow have all been charged with a combined 16 firearms-related charges.

Police also note that a 35-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman are facing three firearms-related charges.
