Jets fans came together and raised nearly $235,000 for United Way Winnipeg during this year’s Stanley Cup playoffs.
On Monday, United Way Winnipeg announced the support that was provided by Jets fans who attended the Whiteout Street Parties — an initiative that’s been conducted by True North Sports + Entertainment since 2019, which sees half the proceeds go to the organization.
“We are regularly humbled by the support of our fans and the spirit of our community,” said Mark Chipman, Executive Chairman, True North Sports + Entertainment. “Through United Way Winnipeg, proceeds from the Street Parties help pivotal downtown organizations make that spirit stronger and support their work toward a healthier city for everyone.”
During the 2025 playoff run, over 35,000 hockey fans attended seven celebrations. Funds were also provided to United Way Winnipeg from seven Hargrave St. Market Parties.
“Jets fans are true believers in the best of Winnipeg. They show up for their city with unwavering support—through both the struggles and the successes,” said United Way Winnipeg President & CEO Connie Walker. “This echoes the work of these tremendous community organizations, who are great champions for Winnipeggers every single day.”
Walker added, “We’re so grateful to fans for extending their love of our city in this way and for making a real difference.”
Overall, $234,890 was raised, and will go to various organizations including Downtown Community Safety Partnership (DCSP), N’Dinawemak-Our Relatives’ Place, Okichidah Pimahtisiwin Kiskinawmatowin (OPK), and Kã Ni Kãnichihk-Velma’s House.
“It’s been a tsunami of need,” said OPK Executive Director Sheryl Blacksmith. “Thank you so much for this amazing gift and how much it’s going to change lives in our community.”
Since the initiative began in 2019, over $546,000 has been raised to help support various homelessness, addiction, and mental health initiatives.
