Despite recent rain and cooler temperatures throughout the province, wildfires continue to run rampant, with the biggest one currently covering over 300,000 hectares near Sheridan.
As displaced evacuees from communities like Flin Flon continue to seek shelter in Winnipeg, many organizations around the city have offered their services free of charge to provide relief in any way they can.
The YMCA of Winnipeg has offered free access for evacuees to all community hubs located in the city and is working with the Canadian Red Cross and the City of Winnipeg to coordinate services.
Each community hub location is also accepting donations of baby formula, diapers, infant medicine, toothbrushes and other hygiene items, socks, and underwear.
The Canadian Museum for Human Rights, as well as the Winnipeg Art Gallery, have both opened their doors for free as well, inviting evacuees to visit as a way to find a moment of peace during this difficult time.
The Assiniboine Park Zoo has also stepped up, donating free zoo passes for evacuees, which were distributed by the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs.
Eligible wildfire evacuees can also apply for financial support through the Wildfire Incidental Support Program. Those over the age of 13, who were evacuated under a mandatory order, can receive $34 per day, or $27 per day if they are 12 and under.
